Vibration plates ‘tone muscle much faster than traditional workouts’
One way of looking slimmer without losing a lot of weight is to tone muscle, which can be achieved quickly using a particular piece of fitness equipment – the vibration plate.
This is according to Morgan Pierce, managing director of Irish fitness chains Curves and BodySmart.
She explained to the Sunday Business Post that vibration plates work by causing core muscles in the body to contract at a rapid rate, toning and strengthening the body much more quickly than can be achieved using traditional gym workouts.
"The technology increases the production of regenerative and repair hormones, improves blood circulation, strengthens bone tissue, improves lymph drainage and increases basal metabolic rate," said Ms Pierce.
She went on to say that the machines are not only good for overall fitness, but can benefit those suffering from multiple sclerosis and people recovering from injuries.
Earlier this year, the Daily Mail reported that Kylie Minogue had taken a delivery of a vibration plate machine, suggesting that this is how the pint-sized pop star maintains her trim and toned physique.
