The right shoes ‘can have a slimming effect’
Any slimming efforts you have been making this year could be boosted over the party season if you wear the right shoes.
This is the claim of Debenhams, which says it has worked out a formula to help women appear to have dropped a dress size.
The formula to follow is supposedly (colour + platform + height + heel width) – ankle strap = slimming, based on looking at celebrities including Victoria Beckham and the Duchess of Cambridge.
Debenhams recommends going for choosing nude-coloured shoes that have a one-centimetre concealed platform and a heel height of at least three inches.
However, ankle straps will cause the legs to look shorter, so should probably be avoided.
Head of accessories for Debenhams Natelle Baddeley remarked: “Once you have found the perfect pair all you need to do is slip on your shoes to instantly transform your silhouette. It’s the perfect party cheat.”
This comes after Wenda James-Rowe, a former Colour Me Beautiful consultant, told the Western Mail that a slimming effect can also be achieved with long jewellery.
