Reindeer steak ‘is a good option for those trying to lose weight’

Reindeer steak 'is a good option for those trying to lose weight'Those trying to lose weight over the coming months should consider opting for reindeer steak as their festive meat of choice, one commentator has suggested.

Mark Walton-Cook wrote in a piece for the Daily Telegraph that reindeer steak is lower in calories, cholesterol and fat than most cuts of beef, pork or lamb, making it a better option for those losing weight.

"They eat loads of it in Finland, home of Father Christmas. Still need convincing? Lidl now sells 350g steaks for £5.99," Mr Walton-Cook writes.

He goes on to recommend people to add up-tempo Christmas songs to their mp3 players as these will; hope to motivate them to exercise despite the cold winter weather.

Dr Costas Karageorghis, sport psychologist at Brunel University, told the writer that the ideal music tempo is about five peats per minute above a person's working heart rate.

A study set to be published in the March 28th print issue of Archives of Internal Medicine but already available online revealed that music-based exercise can improve the balance of elderly people, helping them to avoid falls.
