Red chilli peppers ‘can curb appetite’
Those looking to lose weight fast should eat red chilli peppers each day, a new study has revealed.
Researchers from Purdue University found that consuming this form of pepper daily can curb a person’s appetite.
Not only this, but if the popular spice features in a meal, more calories are burnt post-eating than if a dish without the ingredient is consumed.
Researcher Richard Mattes, a professor of foods at Purdue University, said: “Dietary changes that don’t require great effort to implement, like sprinkling red pepper on your meal, may be sustainable and beneficial in the long run, especially when paired with exercise and healthy eating.”
He went on to say that this is not the cure to the obesity epidemic, but should be seen as a step in the right direction.
Back in January, the New Mexico State University chilli pepper breeding programme announced the release of a large jalapeno pepper named NuMex Jalmundo.
