Protein-heavy diet ‘can help women to lose weight’
Women can lose weight if they stick to a protein-based diet, an expert has claimed.
Dr Sarah Brewer, nutritionist, author and founder of Natural Health Guru, said that such a diet helps people to feel fuller for longer as it releases energy steadily.
"As a result, you should eat less and so consume fewer calories," she explained.
She went on to say that people should drink between two to 2.5 litres per day to make sure that they stay hydrated.
Drinking lots of water will also help to flush the body of toxins, Ms Brewer added.
She also advised people to "follow a healthy, active lifestyle to ensure you use up the calories you consume".
Ms Brewer said women should eat a variety of healthy foods, especially fruit, vegetables, lean meat and fish.
Last month, scientists from the American Association for Cancer Research revealed that a high-protein, low-carb diet can help to ward off cancer.
