People trying to lose weight fast ‘must continue to eat a healthy diet’
Those looking to lose weight fast must ensure they do so while continuing to eat a healthy diet, an expert has claimed.
Dr Carina Norris, nutritionist, journalist and author, has emphasised the importance of having a balanced intake of different foods.
"Even if you need to reduce calories and fat, or cut out certain ingredients because of an allergy or intolerance, you still need to ensure that you're getting enough of the major food groups," she explained.
She added that people must ensure their weight loss diet still contains protein, healthy fats and carbohydrates – as well as vitamins and minerals – to ensure they remain healthy.
Dr Norris said that it is also important to handle the exclusion of certain foods, such as dairy, carefully, finding replacements, such as green leafy vegetables, that continue to provide essential nutrients such as calcium.
Earlier this month, grub4life.org.uk dietitian and founder Nigel Denby advised those looking for help with slimming to adopt the Mediterranean diet, which contains lots of fish, pulses, whole grains and unsaturated healthy oils.
