People ‘should not lose heart’ because of diet setbacks

People should not give up on their weight loss ambitions if they suffer diet setbacks, according to one writer.

Commenting in an article published by IBT Health, the Diet-to-Go chief editor John McGran noted that people’s diets may not always go as smoothly as they might hope.

He stated: “Rather than throw in the napkin and quit when a binge happens, pick yourself up, dust off the crumbs and climb back on the dieting wagon.”

Temptation is not something that will just go away overnight, Mr McGran went on to suggest.

“There will always be temptation,” he commented.

One of the reasons that people might want to lose weight is to reduce their risk of getting type 2 diabetes, Zoe Harrison, care advisor at Diabetes UK, recently said.

A combination of exercise and a balanced diet could help people to achieve this, she went on to suggest.
