People ‘should aim to follow balanced diets’
It is important that people try to follow a balanced diet when aiming to lose weight, rather than simply eating less food, one health body has suggested.
A variety of guidance has been offered by NHS Choices, which is aiming to separate some of the myths surrounding diets from the reality.
According to the organisation, people should aim to ensure that their diet has the right proportions of different kinds of food.
The body stated: “Most people eat too much fat, sugar and salt and not enough fruit, vegetables and fibre.”
Meanwhile, NHS Choices has warned consumers that foods are not necessarily healthy just because they are advertised as being low in fat.
At present, the NHS aims to encourage people to eat healthily and enjoy exercise through its ongoing Change4Life scheme.
The initiative currently offers families features like nutritious recipes on its website.
