People ‘may need to lose weight’ to tackle diabetes risk
Type 2 diabetes might pose a greater risk to those who are overweight, an expert has suggested.
According to Diabetes UK care advisor Zoe Harrison, people concerned about getting the condition may benefit from improving their diet and the amount of exercise they undertake.
She stated: “Diabetes UK recommends … eating a healthy, balanced diet and doing at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day.”
This advice applies no matter how old or young people are, the expert added.
Even walking could help people to get their recommended daily amount of exercise, Ms Harrison went on to say.
Meanwhile, those looking to enhance their diets in the near future might also want to heed the advice that was recently offered by Linda Main, dietetic advisor for HEART UK, who feels that saturated fat is something that consumers should cut down on.
