Low Fat Recipes: Almond Toffee Cakes

1/2 cup of chopped almonds

2 cups of all-purpose flour

1 cup of white baking chocolate chips

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

1 cup of milk

1 and 1/2 of cups of packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon of baking powder

1/2 cup of cold cubed butter

1 egg

1/2 teaspoon of salt


Low fat recipes can include cakes and deserts too.



  1. In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar and flour
  2. Gradually add the cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs
  3. Set aside 1 cup for the topping
  4. Add baking powder and salt to the remaining crumb mixture
  5. In a separate bowl whisk the egg, vanilla and milk
  6. Stir into the mixture until moist
  7. Pop the mixture into a greased baking pan (13-in. x 9-in.)
  8. Sprinkle with reserved topping mixture, chocolate chips and almonds
  9. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes (until golden/brown- until you can pull edges away from sides of pan)
  10. Leave to cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into pieces
