Spring Slim Down food substitutions

Grapefruit – Grapefruit is one of the staples of this diet, and if you don’t like them, then this probably isn’t the diet for you. However, you can swap the 1/2 grapefruit for a small glass of grapefruit juice – and you can add Stevia to sweeten.

Some people can’t consumer grapefruit because it interferes with medication, others just don’t like the taste. Do not substitute for an orange! To get the same benefits, mix 1/2 teaspoon baking soda in a glass of water and drink it.

Eggs – Eggs are one of the staples of this diet, and if you don’t like them, then this probably isn’t the diet for you. However, on the odd day, you can substitute eggs for a glass of milk, a chicken wing, a handful of seeds or nuts, or two slices of bacon.

Cottage cheese – You can substitute the cottage cheese for plain greek yoghurt, ricotta cheese, cheddar cheese, eggs, or ham. Just remember, you need to measure calories, not size. For example, 4 ounces of cottage cheese has 100 calories. You would substitute only 1 ounce of cheddar cheese to get the same 100 calories. Tofu is a non-dairy substitute with similar nutrients.

Meat – If you’re vegetarian, you can use lentils, beans, tofu, or Portobello mushrooms as meat alternatives.

Carrots – Squash, parsnip, beets, celery, and bell pepper can all be substituted for carrots.

This diet originated from a gym chain in USA, created and owned by Lucille Roberts.
