Home gyms for weight loss ‘still hugely popular’
Home gyms are still hugely popular thanks to all the people trying to lose weight, but they don't have to be "big or expensive", one expert has noted.
Joanna Knight, editor of Women's Fitness, said that purchasing a few pieces of key equipment make a "sound investment".
She noted that as people continue to feel the effects of the recession, they are looking for ways to work out for less.
"The number of people enjoying free activities like running and cycling has increased in the last few years and home workouts also offer an affordable way of getting fit too," the expert commented.
The major benefits of working out at home, Ms Knight said, is that you cannot make excuses for not going, you can wear what you like and you don't have to queue for the showers.
People considering a home gym should opt for lightweight equipment that is easy to store away, she explained, unless they are dedicating an entire room of their house to the gym.
