Festive gluttony ‘could lead to dieting downfall’
Slimmers should be able to keep their dieting on track as long as they avoid festive gluttony this Christmas.
This is according to Alison Wetton, founder of All About Weight, who said it is important not to overload on unnecessary calories for too long.
“It’s fine to enjoy your traditional Christmas and Boxing Day and New Year’s celebrations as long as you keep the excesses to those days and get back into your healthy lifestyle as soon as possible,” she remarked.
Ms Wetton also urged people not to binge eat, but to consume food slowly and give the body a chance to register when it is full.
This echoes recent advice from nutritionist Dr Cory Holly, who recommended slowly chewing each mouthful of food and avoiding second helpings on Christmas Day itself.
Following this advice should help to prevent extra pounds being packed on over the holidays that will have to be lost in January.
