Expert offers tips for new year detox
We may not even have cooked the turkey and pulled all the crackers yet, but plenty of you are sure to be thinking about your annual new year detox already.
To ensure you are on the right track with it Harley Street nutritionist Yvonne Bishop-Weston has offered some tips on what you should be doing to correctly employ a master cleanse.
She recommended choosing a week in January when you can swap things like wheat and dairy for healthier choices.
"Instead go for whole grains, beans, pulses, nuts, seeds, plenty of alkaline water and lots of vegetables, Ms Bishop-Weston commented.
When you eat vegetables at night, make sure they are cooked so your body can digest them more easily, while the expert suggested meal replacement shakes or smoothies to keep your digestive system happy and add probiotics.
Finally, she advised detoxers to eat up to eight portions of fruit a day ant to keep hydrated for fewer hunger pangs and less bloating.
