Exercise ‘reduces breast cancer risk’

Exercise 'reduces breast cancer risk'Frequent exercise can not only help people to reach their weight loss goals, it can also reduce a woman's risk of developing breast cancer, scientists have claimed.

A statement from the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) claims that about 10,000 cases of breast and bowel cancer could be prevented every year in the UK if people were more physically active.

"Even relatively modest increases in activity levels could prevent thousands of cancer cases in the UK every year," said Dr Rachel Thompson, deputy head of science for the WCRF.

She went on to say that people do not have to go to the gym every day in order to reduce their risk, they can just work brisk walks into their daily routines.

Back in June, a study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine revealed that brisk walks and bike rides are excellent forms of exercise for preventing weight gain in pre-menopausal women who are already overweight or obese.

When was the last time you went for a brisk walk?
