Employers ‘should help staff lose weight’
Employers should help the members of their staff to lose weight, health and wellbeing consultant Hermie Hogg has suggested.
Ms Hogg said that bosses should provide their employees with examples of exercises that they can do while sitting at their desks.
She explained that employers in other European countries hold workshops in which their staff learn about how to eat healthily and fit exercise into their daily routines.
"In the UK not many employers are doing that. They give you the time off and it doesn't really matter what you do in your lunch break," Ms Hogg added.
She said that people can ensure that they maintain good circulation by wriggling their toes while sat at their desks, even if they have shoes on.
Her comments follow news that London-based firm Headstrong UK had been given a Simplyhealth Healthy Workplace award for demonstrating its commitment to the health and wellbeing of its employees.
