Eating and drinking well boosts skin as well as weight loss
Eating a healthy diet is highly recommended for weight loss, but it will also boost appearance in other ways, one expert has underlined.
Consultant dermatologist Dr Bav Shergill, of the Hove Skin Clinic, pointed out that eating a healthy diet makes the skin look great.
Staying away from alcohol is imperative, he explains, as such drinks dehydrate the skin while also dilating blood vessels on the face, making conditions such as rosacea and seborrhoeic dermatitis much worse.
Meanwhile, some people also find that coffee can make rosacea worse, according to the expert.
When it comes to eating, Dr Shergill points out that high glycaemic index foods like ready meals and cakes can worsen acne, while vitamin C is good for skin healing and Zinc is "excellent" for boosting the immune system.
"A healthy diet, comprised of all recommended vitamins and minerals will improve skin and hair quality," he commented.
