Early nights ‘aid weight loss’

Early nights 'aid weight loss'Those who are trying to lose weight fast should make sure that they get to bed at a reasonable time every night, a recent study has suggested.

Researchers from Northwestern University in the US found that people who go to bed late eat more calories in the evening than those who head to bed early.

Not only this, but they also eat more fast food and fewer fruits and vegetables.

The researchers also found that night owls tend to weigh more than people who go to sleep earlier and wake up earlier.

Co-lead author of the study was Kathryn Reid, research assistant professor in neurology at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine.

"We don't know if late sleepers consume the extra calories because they prefer more high-calorie foods or because there are less healthful options at night," said Ms Reid.

Back in December, Shirley Kindrick, from Ohio State University Medical Center, said that hormonal changes occur when people are sleep-deprived.

She explained that this can lead to a craving for carbohydrates, which can then cause people to struggle with meeting their weight loss goals.
