Sales have plummeted for Bread, Potatoes, Rice & Pasta.  In favour of Pain au Chocolat which has approx. 26g Carbohydrate per serving and Scones at approx. 22g of carbohydrates.

One slice of various Brown breads are only approx. 16g and white approx. 13g.  Yet people are moving away from bread sandwiches, opting instead for wraps at approx. 20g and Pitta at approx. 25g of carbohydrates.

When the 1st White loaf was mass produced in the 1960s it was tasteless because of over processing.  This caused the natural goodness to diminish so vitamins & minerals needed to be added.  Shoppers are now put off by the level of sugars in the bread too, looking for products with no additives or preservatives.  Some even baking fresh bread  in a bread maker at home causing sales of bakewear to rocket in 2015.  Others who are on diets and wheat or gluten intolerant have caused a huge cut in sales.

If you check the table below you can see at a glance which products are best for whatever diet you are on.
