Chocolate cake for breakfast ‘could help with weight loss’
It is rare that a weight loss regime would involve chocolate cake for breakfast – but scientists have said that this could be just the thing to help people shift some pounds.
Research from Tel Aviv University revealed that a 600 calorie breakfast could aid dieters in their bid to lose weight, and ideally it should encompass proteins, carbohydrates and chocolate cake.
The thinking behind the surprising theory is that people should indulge in the morning, when the body's metabolism is at its height and we are better able to work off the extra calories during the day.
Furthermore, attempts to avoid sweet treats entirely can create a psychological addiction to these same foods in the long-term, researcher professor Daniela Jakubowicz explained, which is where the chocolate cake comes in.
He believes that adding this dessert to breakfast will help control cravings throughout the rest of the day.
