Celeb chefs ‘load recipes with saturated fats’
Celebrity chefs' versions of classic British meals include high levels of calories and saturated fats, a new report has shown.
The report, conducted by the Fat Panel, is titled Making the Best Better and includes new research identifying which are the nation's favourite dishes.
Top of the list was a Sunday roast with all the trimmings, which received 35.6 per cent of the votes, followed by steak and chips with 11.85 per cent.
One portion of Nigella Lawson's Sunday roast was found by the panel to contain 36.9g of saturated fat, which is 6.9g more than the recommended daily amount for men.
Marco Pierre White's steak was found to contain 40.1g, with his chips adding an extra 1.8g.
"For an occasional treat, eating dishes high in calories and saturated fat is fine but as this report has focussed on people's favourite choices, it is likely these dishes are being eaten on a regular basis," said Dr Sarah Schenker from the Fat Panel.
Last month, Fat Panel research also showed that nearly 20 per cent of people falsely think that saturated fat is good for their health.
