Best breakfast for weight loss

best breakfastIf you’re trying to lose weight, you’ll probably be cutting down on the amount of food you’re eating in a day but what is the best breakfast for weight loss.

Research has revealed that you don’t have to cut back on calories to reach your ideal weight – and the secret is making sure you’re eating the right thing at breakfast.

2 nutritionists, Stephanie & Willow from C&J Nutrition in New York say the best method to eat your way to effective weight loss is by consuming between 300 and 400 calories in the morning.

What is the best breakfast for weight loss?

In what may be surprising to many, it’s recommend that about half the breakfast (between 44 per cent and 55 per cent to be precise) should be made up of carbohydrates – while avoiding sugary or processed foods, such as white bread the rest should be made up of about 10-15g of fat, 25g of fibre, and 13 to 20g of protein.

Studies suggest a high-protein diet may lead to weight loss.

It’s not advised to have any more than 6g of added sugars in your morning meal.

The idea is to have a filling breakfast that’s high in protein, nutrient-rich and low in added sugars, which gives you the perfect balance of almost every food group.

But if that sounds too complicated to work out every day, then don’t panic.

Here’s three examples to show you what the best breakfast for weight loss looks like.

– 188g of porridge made with coarse oatmeal, using half water, half soya milk & topped with blueberries, walnuts and a drizzle of maple syrup

– 2 tablespoons of natural peanut butter on wholemeal toast, topped with banana and a sprinkle of cinnamon

– 2 scrambled eggs with spinach and a tablespoon of chopped onion on wholegrain toast, served with fresh raspberries or blueberries.
