Arlene Philips reveals diet secrets

Former Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Philips will no doubt hail taking a spin around the dance floor as the best exercise to lose weight, but she has revealed that she also eats a low-calorie diet to stay trim.

Arlene’s breakfast consists of coffee, jasmine tea and half a piece of sourdough toast with Marmite, she told the Daily Mail.

The newspaper’s nutritionist Zoe Harcombe said that the 67-year-old should try to eat more toast and Marmite, as yeast extract is a great source of B vitamins.

Arlene said that she always eats fruit at midday, including grapes, cherries, tangerines and blueberries, followed by a turkey salad for lunch.

Her dinner typically consists of duck leg confit, sliced beetroot in balsamic vinegar, grilled tomatoes, cabbage, broccoli and a bit of gratin potatoes with a big bowl of lettuce and chicory.

According to the NHS, lettuce is a good food choice for those suffering from flatulence – a condition that colonic irrigation benefits too.
