10% of Brits ‘are obese’
Poor diet and inactivity has caused one in ten Brits to be come so overweight that their doctors seriously fear for their health, a study has suggested.
The Hospital Group claims that around 2.8 million people in the UK are classed as obese and are being treated for type 2 diabetes.
It suggests that this disease is not the only problem that obese people are faced with and that heart attacks, high blood pressure and breathing difficulties can also be experienced.
"Not only does being overweight have a huge impact on your health but it can also impact a person's confidence and self esteem which can cause their social life to suffer too," said David Ross, chief executive of the Hospital Group.
He went on to claim that these physical and mental problems can be significantly reduced if people lose weight and keep it off.
Earlier in the year, a spokeswoman from Slimming World claimed that stylish clothing options can improve overweight people's confidence and can even motivate them to lose weight.
